TROPICAL NO2- TEST is used to measure the concentration of nitrite (NO2-) within the range of 0 3.3 mg/l in fresh and salt water. It is convenient and extremely easy to use. The reagents are simply added to the water and after a short time cause discoloration of the sample. The nitrite concentration is obtained by comparing the colour of the sample with the enclosed colour scale. In the aquarium nitrite is produced during the bacterial breakdown of fish wastes, uneaten food, and other organic substances. Because nitrite is highly toxic to fish, its concentration in the aquarium should be as close to zero as possible. Dangerously high concentrations of nitrite may occur in newly established or overcrowded aquaria, and/or where the biological filtration is not functioning properly, or has been compromised by the use of bactericidal medications. TROPICAL NO2- TEST quickly and easily indicates whether the water in the aquarium is safe for the fish kept.
